Shiffrin named 'skier of the year' for the 3rd time – as it happened

Mikaela Shiffrin, a renowned skier, was awarded the title of "Skier of the Year" by the federation of ski journalists in Sölden, Austria.

This prestigious award was presented to him by American ski legend Bode Miller.

Shiffrin, who holds the record for most World Cup wins (88) and won her fifth overall World Cup title last season.

He was awarded the Scire d'Or AIJS Award. This is his third win of the award, having previously received it in 2017 and 2019.

After accepting the award, Shiffrin expressed her gratitude to the media, acknowledging their role in sharing sports stories.

He said, "We know we only have the game because you're willing to tell stories. As always, thank you for your time and the work you do."

Former Olympic champion and two-time overall World Cup winner Bode Miller praised Shiffrin, calling her "the best man or woman I have ever seen."
