Petra Kvitova defeats Elena Rybakina for Wins first Miami Open title

Kvitova won the $1.26million first prize by defeating Elena Rybakina.

Kvitova won the Miami Open in her 13th appearance on Saturday, defeating Elena Rybakina 7-6(14), 6-2.

33-year-old Kvitova, who is 10 years older than her rival Elena Rybakina.

Rybakina 13-match winning streak was broken by Petra Kvitova and halted her bid to win the Sunshine Double.

Kvitova claimed her 30th WTA singles title and first since 2018 in Madrid.

After Rybakina hit a forehand long on match point, Kvitova was emotional as she raised her arms and put her hands on her head.

It was the 41st WTA final of Kvitova's career but first in Miami. She will also make it to the top 10.

Kvitova said. "I play with guts, I can still play with the best, I am proud that, even at my age, I could win big tournaments."
