Moana 2: Dwayne Johnson's Possible Reprise and Disney's Theatrical Surprise

Reports indicate that Dwayne Johnson, known for his role as Maui, is in discussions to reprise his character in Moana 2.

The news of Moana 2's development follows an announcement made by Disney CEO Bob Iger regarding the sequel's release.

While casting details haven't been specified, Deadline suggests that Johnson is close to finalizing his return.

Talks with Auli’i Cravalho, who voices Moana, are also ongoing.

Disney surprised many by announcing the sequel's release during its earnings report and shifting from a planned Disney+ series to a theatrical release.

Moana 2 is scheduled for release on 27th November, sharing the date with Wicked: Part One, aiming to replicate the original's box office success.

Dave Derrick Jr. will direct the sequel, featuring music by Abigail Barlow, Emily Bear, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina. Notably, Lin-Manuel Miranda won't be involved in the sequel's music.

Johnson's potential involvement in Moana 2 is significant, considering his role in the live-action adaptation of the original film.
