Kelly explained that "I didn't want everyone to think Kelly was just coming up too soon with something like 'I'm angry' or 'I'm sad,' just an emotion or two.

The album definitely takes out the arc of the whole relationship that Kelly Clarkson split from her ex-husband and former manager Brandon Blackstock in 2020.
