Amazon MGM Studios recently announced that the romantic comedy “The Idea of You” will have its world premiere on March 16, closing out the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival. Adapted from the Robinne Lee novel of the same name the film is directed by Michael Showalter, who also co-wrote it alongside Jennifer Westfeldt.
Starring Anne Hathaway as Solène a 40-year-old single mom, the story revolves around her unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell played by Nicholas Galitzine the lead singer of the hottest boy band, August Moon.
The plot unfolds when Solène, tasked with chaperoning her teenage daughter’s Coachella Music Festival trip after her ex cancels at the last minute, encounters Hayes. An instant spark ignites, leading to a whirlwind romance. However, as they navigate the challenges of Hayes’ superstar status, Solène realizes that life in the spotlight comes with unforeseen challenges.
The ensemble cast includes Ella Rubin, Reid Scott, Annie Mumolo, Viktor White, Raymond Cham, Jaiden Anthony and Dakota Adan. SXSW is scheduled to run from March 8-16 in Austin, Texas with “The Idea of You” premiering on Prime Video on May 2.
