Taylor Russell on the red carpet at the Fashion Awards 2023
Jonathan Anderson, Loewe’s creative director and actress Taylor Russell have forged a unique designer-muse relationship. Anderson has dressed Russell in an array of outfits from draped premiere gowns to unconventional “tin can” couture, since their introduction by mutual friend and director, Luca Guadagnino. This collaboration has seen Russell both open Loewe’s spring/summer 2023 runway and feature in multiple campaigns.
At The Fashion Awards, Anderson accompanied Russell as she graced the step and repeat in a custom ensemble inspired by Loewe’s upcoming spring/summer 2024 collection. The standout piece was a sculptural top adorned with sequined and embellished flowers, divided into silver and green sections. Anderson’s tenure at Loewe has been characterized by reimagining classic styles, evident in this unique floral creation that captivated onlookers at the event.
While the original runway pairing involved high-waisted jeans, Russell’s choice of a satin column skirt added a touch of evening elegance. Known for her bold fashion choices, Russell balanced the striking top with minimal accessories and understated, natural makeup.
Russell’s recent appearances suggest a penchant for Loewe’s more avant-garde pieces. Previously, she donned an oversized coat crafted from hand-hammered metal, simulating fabric textures, at the brand’s spring/summer 2024 runway show. With Loewe’s diverse range of 3D materials—ranging from needle and thread bodices to quirky elements like Polly Pocket-esque skirts and even a car dress—Russell seems poised for more daring fashion statements in the future.
