Reese Witherspoon Teases Third Season of ‘Big Little Lies’ at Golden Globes

At the recent Golden Globes ceremony, Reese Witherspoon shared with Variety that she’s actively involved in the development of the third season of Big Little Lies.

Her presence at the event was tied to the nominations received by The Morning Show, an Apple TV+ series where she portrays a broadcaster. This marked her seventh Golden Globe nomination.

The show initially premiered on HBO in 2017, focusing on a group of women entangled in a murder investigation. While the second season concluded in 2019, the passing of season one’s director, Jean-Marc Vallée, in 2021 deeply affected the close-knit cast, as highlighted by Reese.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Reese reflected on the strong bond within the Big Little Lies cast. She emphasized Vallée’s significance as a collaborator and friend, acknowledging his pivotal role in shaping the series through his creativity.

Speculation about a potential third season intensified after Nicole Kidman, a co-star, hinted at a new installment in November of the previous year. Kidman had previously mentioned the prospect of a third season as early as 2020, expressing the cast’s eagerness to reunite despite their busy schedules.

Casey Bloys, the current CEO of HBO, addressed the potential reunion in a 2020 interview with Deadline, noting the cast’s commitments and the hope for a future collaboration.

The confirmation of a third season is a welcome update for fans eagerly anticipating the show’s return.

For UK viewers, both seasons of Big Little Lies are available on Spectrum On Demand or the Max Amazon Channel.
