“Tokyo Vice” is set to make its return with a second season scheduled to premiere on February 8th, as shared by Max alongside a trailer.

The crime drama series is based on Jake Adelstein’s memoir, chronicling his experiences as an American journalist covering the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat in Japan. Ansel Elgort portrays a fictionalized version of Adelstein, while Ken Watanabe takes on the role of Hiroto Katagiri, a seasoned detective within the Tokyo police force.

Season 2 promises a deeper exploration of the city’s criminal underworld, where Adelstein (played by Elgort) realizes the imminent danger looming over his life and those close to him as per the official synopsis.

Returning to the cast are Rinko Kikuchi, Rachel Keller, Show Kasamatsu and Ayumi Ito. Yosuke Kubozuka and Miki Maya are set to join the ensemble.

The series is created and written by J.T. Rogers, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Alan Poul.
