Miss Colorado Madison Marsh First Active-Duty Air Force Officer Crowned Miss America 2024
Miss Colorado Madison Marsh was crowned Miss America 2024 on Sunday night marking a historic moment as the first active-duty Air Force officer to hold a Miss America state title. The 22-year-old, also a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force, earned her Miss Colorado title in May 2023. Graduating from the United States Air Force Academy with a degree in physics focusing on astronomy, she is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in public policy at the Harvard Kennedy School.
During her time at the Air Force Academy, Marsh decided to compete in pageants, citing similarities between military service and pageantry. She sees both as opportunities to serve and represent her country or community, whether in uniform or adorned with a crown and sash. Marsh attributes her leadership skills, developed at the Air Force Academy, to winning the Miss Colorado title.
In addition to her achievements, Marsh is the cofounder of the Whitney Marsh Foundation, established in honor of her mother who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2018. The foundation, known for organizing annual 5K and 10K runs in Fort Smith, Arkansas, has raised over a quarter of a million dollars to date.
The 2024 Miss America winner, according to the Miss America website, will receive $60,000 in tuition scholarships and the opportunity to travel as the Miss America brand ambassador. Marsh, at the time of reporting, had not responded to requests for comment.
