Inside Out 2 Trailer and Poster Reveal: Anxious Teenage Adventures Ahead

It seems that the filmmakers at Pixar are quite attuned to the challenges that teenagers face in today’s anxious times judging by the teaser trailer for “Inside Out 2.” Disney released the trailer and movie poster for this highly-anticipated sequel set to hit theaters in June 2024.

The sequel appears to continue the story where the original film left off with Riley turning 13 and entering her teenage years. The familiar emotions of Joy (voiced by Amy Poehler), Sadness (voiced by Phyllis Smith), Anger (voiced by Lewis Black), Fear and Disgust are still present, but it’s worth noting that Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling are not voicing Fear and Disgust anymore. Instead, Tony Hale and Liza Lapira will be taking on those roles respectively.

A major change is introduced in Riley’s emotional world as a construction crew enters her headspace, declaring it’s “demolition day.” This development leads to her original emotions seeking cover nervously. While the movie poster hints at a group of new teenage emotions that Riley and her team will have to confront, the trailer introduces one significant emotion, especially relevant in today’s context – Anxiety.

According to Disney’s press release accompanying the trailer Kelsey Mann the film’s director, assures that this new character, Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke, will have a substantial impact within Riley’s emotional headquarters. Mann states, “Anxiety might be new to the crew, but she’s not one to take a back seat. That makes a lot of sense when you consider what goes on inside all our minds.”

Given Pixar’s track record and the focus on issues like anxiety and self-care in today’s world, it’s likely that “Inside Out 2” will handle this delicate emotion with sensitivity and attention to detail. This sequel should be a significant family film for Disney/Pixar in the upcoming summer.
