In her first role since David Cronenberg’s 2022 horror film “Crimes of the Future” Kristen Stewart takes on the character of Lou a gym manager in the A24 romantic thriller “Love Lies Bleeding.” Lou’s life takes an unexpected turn when she encounters Jackie (portrayed by Katy M. O’Brian) a determined bodybuilder passing through town en route to pursuing her dreams in Las Vegas. Their passionate romance unfolds amidst the looming danger posed by Lou’s criminal father, disrupting their otherwise intimate relationship. In the upcoming A24 romantic thriller “Love Lies Bleeding” directed and co-written by Rose Glass of “Saint Maud” fame, Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian take on gripping roles involving love and danger. Stewart plays Lou a secluded gym manager who finds herself deeply drawn to Jackie (O’Brian), an ambitious bodybuilder passing through town on her way to a competition in Las Vegas.

As their romance intensifies, the two become embroiled in a series of violent confrontations involving Lou’s father (played by Ed Harris) and an employee at his shooting range (portrayed by Dave Franco). O’Brian’s character takes a job at the shooting range and becomes entangled in a world of blood, money, and crime, where choices lead to extortion and even murder. With Jackie now caught in the midst of Lou’s criminal family, she resolves to fight back.

The film, co-written by Weronika Tofilska was developed by Film4 and is produced by A24 in collaboration with Andrea Cornwell for Lobo Films and Oliver Kassman for Escape Plan Productions. Set to premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, “Love Lies Bleeding” will have a wide release scheduled for March 8, 2024.
